Gavin Newsome, Governor of California, has pardoned another handful of criminals who would otherwise be deported. In all three certificates of clemency, the document states, "He has presented evidence that a collateral consequence of his felony and misdemeanor convictions, namely, his impending deportation and permanent separation from his family and removal from his community, further justifies this exercise of executive clemency." Here are my questions: Who cares about the collateral damage of theircrimes? What about thecollateral damage his victims have suffered fromdue to theircrimes? How does this make California safer? How can this be seen as anything other than prioritizing dangerous politics over the well-being of the American people?
